OEM/ODM Development for Micro Pumps, Solenoid Valves & DC Motors

Pinmotor works with equipment manufacturers that need a pump, valve or compact motor to fit a defined product design.

A project may start with an existing model, a modified configuration or further product development. The decision is based on the required operating point, available installation space, electrical interface, working medium, duty cycle and expected production volume.

When Does a Micro Pump, Valve or Motor Need Customization?

A new design is not required for every OEM project. An existing model is usually preferred when its performance, dimensions and electrical connection already fit the final equipment.

Customization may be considered when the project requires:

● A different rated voltage
● Specific wire length or connector
● Limited installation space
● Different inlet or outlet direction
● A defined flow, pressure or vacuum point
● Normally open or normally closed valve logic
● A different motor speed or gear ratio
● A specific output shaft or mounting structure
● Customer-defined inspection or labeling requirements

An existing product platform can often be adjusted without changing the complete internal design.

What Types of OEM/ODM Projects Can Pinmotor Support?

Standard Product Matching

An existing model is selected when the required performance and installation conditions already fall within the available specification.

The main work includes confirming dimensions, electrical requirements, operating conditions and sample availability.

Existing Platform Modification

The main product structure remains unchanged while selected details are adjusted to fit the customer's device.

Changes may involve voltage, wiring, connector, port direction, motor configuration, shaft, mounting or gear ratio.

Project-Specific Development

Further development can be evaluated when available platforms cannot meet the confirmed structural or performance requirement.

The project scope is defined according to the technical target, validation work, component changes, tooling requirements and expected production quantity.

What Can Be Customized on Micro Pumps, Valves and Motors?

Product Type Items That May Be Adjusted
Micro Air Pump Voltage, motor, pump head, airflow, pressure, ports, wiring, connector
Mini Vacuum Pump Voltage, motor, vacuum range, airflow, port arrangement
Micro Water Pump Voltage, liquid flow, pressure, tubing interface, wiring
Mini Peristaltic Pump Motor speed, tubing, rotation direction, connector
Micro Foam Pump Motor, air-liquid output, outlet configuration
Micro Solenoid Valve Voltage, NO/NC function, port layout, wiring, connector
DC Gear Motor Voltage, gear ratio, output speed, shaft, wiring, mounting

Available changes depend on the selected product platform, component limits and validation requirements. Not every parameter can be changed independently.

What Information Is Needed Before a Custom Sample Is Made?

The required information depends on the function of the component inside the equipment.

Why Should the Sample Be Tested in the Final Device?

A pump, valve or motor may meet its individual specification but behave differently after it is installed in a complete system.

Final performance can be affected by:
● Power supply

● Tubing length

● Tube diameter

● Chamber volume

● System leakage

● Liquid properties

● Mechanical load

● Mounting structure

● Control sequence

For example, longer tubing can increase air or liquid resistance, a larger chamber can increase evacuation time, and a higher mechanical load can reduce motor speed and increase current.

Final approval should therefore be based on performance in the customer's equipment whenever possible.

What Happens If the First Sample Does Not Meet the Target?

When a sample does not meet the expected result, the cause should be identified before the product configuration is changed.

The issue may come from:

● Product selection

● Power supply

● Tubing or piping

● Air or liquid leakage

● Mechanical installation

● System resistance

● Control sequence

● Actual operating load

Test results from the customer's device can be compared with standalone product data to determine whether the restriction comes from the component or the surrounding system.

How Are Product Specifications and Engineering Changes Controlled?

After sample validation is completed, the approved configuration is recorded as the production reference. This helps keep the product supplied in later batches consistent with the version tested in the customer's equipment.

The confirmed reference may include:

● Product model and revision number

● Technical specification

● Dimensional drawing

● Rated voltage

● Wiring and connector

● Port direction

● Shaft or mounting details

● Key performance limits

● Inspection requirements

● Customer part number

● Label and packaging requirements

If any electrical, mechanical or material detail needs to change after approval, the change should be reviewed before it is introduced into production. Typical examples include connector replacement, wire length, motor configuration, port orientation, pump-head material, valve seal, gear ratio or output shaft.

Changes that may affect installation, function or approved performance may require an updated sample or additional validation. The revised configuration should then be recorded under the corresponding product revision before further production.

OEM/ODM Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can an existing product be modified without developing a completely new design?

A: Yes. Selected electrical, mechanical or interface details can be adjusted while the main product platform remains unchanged.

Q: When is a new product platform required?

A: Further development may be needed when available models cannot meet confirmed performance, dimensional or integration requirements.

Q: Can you evaluate our current pump, valve or motor?

A: Yes. Send the existing datasheet, drawing, sample information or operating data for comparison.

Q: What if the first sample fails our device test?

A: The test conditions and system setup should first be reviewed to determine whether the restriction comes from the component or the equipment.

Q: Can the approved configuration be fixed for mass production?

A: Yes. The agreed revision, interfaces, performance limits and inspection requirements can be recorded before production.

Q: Does every engineering change require another sample?

A: Not always. Additional validation is normally considered when a change can affect fit, function or approved performance.

Q: Can our own part number be used?

A: Customer part numbers and labeling requirements can be confirmed during specification approval.
