Mini Diaphragm Pump
Pinmotor:Mini Diaphragm Pumps for OEM Equipment
Pinmotor supplies compact pump components for equipment requiring air delivery, vacuum generation, liquid transfer, foam dispensing or controlled dosing. The range includes micro diaphragm air pumps, compact vacuum pumps, self-priming liquid pumps, miniature foam pumps and related peristaltic dosing models. Each product category uses a different pumping structure and should be selected according to the medium, required output, electrical supply and equipment layout.
For an initial model review, provide the required flow, pressure or vacuum, operating cycle, tube dimensions, available installation space and estimated order quantity.
Select a Pump by Equipment Function
Micro Diaphragm Air Pump
A micro diaphragm air pump delivers air through the outlet to generate positive pressure.
These low-voltage air pumps are used in inflation systems, aeration modules, pneumatic controls and other compact equipment. Model comparison should be based on airflow at the required working pressure rather than free-flow data alone.
Micro Diaphragm Water Pump
A micro diaphragm water pump transfers compatible liquids through an internal chamber and one-way valves.
For a self-priming liquid pump, engineers should confirm the required flow, discharge pressure, suction height, liquid temperature and compatibility with the wetted materials.
Mini Vacuum Pump
A mini vacuum pump removes air from a tube, chamber or sealed circuit to create negative pressure.
The selected model should match the operating vacuum, chamber volume, permitted leakage and required evacuation time. Maximum vacuum indicates the pump limit but does not show how quickly the system will reach its working point.
Mini Foam Pump
A mini foam pump supplies air and liquid to the foaming section of dispensing equipment.
The final foam output also depends on the liquid formulation, air-to-liquid ratio, mixing chamber, mesh and outlet geometry. The complete dispensing assembly should be checked before the pump configuration is approved.
Mini Peristaltic Pump
A mini peristaltic pump transfers liquid by compressing flexible tubing. The medium remains inside the tube and does not pass through an internal pump chamber.
This structure can be considered for isolated fluid paths, small-volume delivery and controlled dosing.
Pump Category Comparison
| Equipment Requirement | Recommended Category | Main Engineering Data |
|---|---|---|
| Outward airflow | Micro diaphragm air pump | Flow, pressure and chamber volume |
| Negative-pressure suction | Mini vacuum pump | Vacuum, evacuation time and leakage |
| General liquid transfer | Micro diaphragm water pump | Flow, pressure and liquid properties |
| Foam dispensing | Mini foam pump | Formula, mixing ratio and outlet design |
| Isolated fluid path or dosing | Mini peristaltic pump | Dose volume, tubing and motor speed |

What Is a Mini Diaphragm Pump?
A mini diaphragm pump is a compact positive-displacement pump that uses a motor-driven flexible diaphragm and one-way valves to move air or liquid. Depending on the pump-head design, it can generate positive pressure, create vacuum, transfer compatible liquids or support foam generation.
A DC motor drives an eccentric mechanism connected to the diaphragm. As the diaphragm moves away from the chamber, the internal volume increases and the medium enters through the inlet valve. When the diaphragm moves back, the medium is discharged through the outlet valve.
The internal valves determine the flow direction. Reversing motor polarity does not normally exchange the inlet and outlet.
Engineering Selection Guide
Pump selection starts with the equipment requirements. The following information should be confirmed before individual models or samples are compared.
Define the Required Function
Identify what the equipment needs the pump to do:
● Deliver airflow
● Generate positive pressure
● Create vacuum
● Transfer liquid
● Produce foam
● Dispense a controlled volume
This determines the correct pump category and prevents testing a structure that does not match the equipment function.
Specify the Working Medium
For pneumatic equipment, state whether the pump handles dry air, humid air or another compatible gas.
For liquid-handling systems, provide:
● Liquid name and concentration
● Operating temperature
● Viscosity
● Presence of particles
● Cleaning requirements
● Material restrictions
Performance measured with clean water or dry air cannot be applied directly to every liquid or gas formulation.
Establish the Operating Point
Provide the output required during normal equipment operation:
● Airflow or liquid flow
● Working pressure or vacuum
● Inflation, evacuation or transfer time
● Suction or discharge height
● Permitted output variation
Free-flow, maximum pressure and maximum vacuum are limit values. The selected model must meet the required result at the intended load.
Define the Operating Profile
State how the pump will be used during one equipment cycle:
● Running time
● Rest period
● Starts per hour
● Total daily operating time
● Ambient temperature
● Continuous or intermittent operation
This information is used to review the motor, diaphragm load and required duty rating.
Confirm the Electrical Conditions
The equipment power source should be defined before the motor configuration is selected.
| Electrical Item | Information Required |
|---|---|
| Rated voltage | Equipment supply voltage |
| Start-up current | Maximum current available during starting |
| Running current | Continuous current limit |
| Minimum voltage | Lowest permitted operating voltage |
| Speed control | Fixed voltage, PWM or another control method |
| Connection | Wire length, terminal and connector |
Selected platforms may be available for 3V, 3.7V, 5V, 6V, 9V, 12V or 24V systems. Availability depends on the motor and pump structure.Battery-powered equipment should be checked at the lowest permitted battery voltage, not only at full charge.
Typical Applications of Mini Diaphragm Pump

Portable Pneumatic Equipment
A micro diaphragm air pump can provide positive pressure for handheld inflators, air cushions and compact pneumatic control modules.
● Engineers should confirm the required chamber volume, inflation time, working pressure and available battery current. The final result should be checked with the production tubing and valve arrangement.
Air Sampling and Gas Monitoring
A compact diaphragm vacuum pump can draw air through filters, sensor chambers and sampling tubes in portable monitoring equipment.
● Pump selection depends on the required airflow under resistance, acceptable leakage and sampling response time. Materials should also be reviewed when the air contains moisture, dust or chemical vapour.
Compact Liquid-Transfer Systems
A self-priming micro diaphragm water pump can move compatible liquids from a reservoir to a spray head, heating section or dispensing outlet.
● The required flow, suction height, discharge pressure and liquid properties should be confirmed before testing. Detergents and formulated liquids must be checked against the tubing and wetted materials.
Foam and Dispensing Equipment
A mini foam pump can support controlled air-and-liquid delivery in soap dispensers, cleaning devices and personal-care equipment.
● Foam consistency depends on the liquid formula, mixing ratio, mesh structure and outlet design. The pump should be evaluated as part of the complete dispensing system rather than as an independent component.
Circuit and Installation Review
After a pump category has been selected, the complete air or liquid path should be reviewed. Tubes, connectors, valves and installation parts can become the main restriction in the system.
Tubes and Connectors
Tube length, internal diameter, bends and connector openings affect the available flow.
A small fitting can restrict the circuit even when the selected pump has sufficient nominal capacity. Production tubing and connectors should therefore be included in the equipment test.
01
Valves and Filters
Solenoid valves, check valves and filters can introduce resistance or leakage.
The circuit review should include:
● Internal flow area
● Valve leakage
● Filter pressure drop
● Opening and closing response
● Power-off valve position
● Number of branches operating together
External port size alone does not show the internal flow capacity of a valve.
02
Chamber or Reservoir Volume
The size of an airbag, sealed cavity, liquid reservoir or dispensing chamber affects the required pump capacity.
A larger volume may require more available flow or a longer operating time. The required response should be checked with the actual chamber rather than estimated from free-flow data.
03
Mounting Layout
The equipment drawing should show:
● Pump position
● Port direction
● Tube routing
● Connector clearance
● Distance from heat sources
● Motor ventilation
● Contact with the enclosure
Rigid contact between the pump and housing can increase transmitted vibration. Flexible mounting may reduce this effect, provided the tubes and wires are not placed under additional stress.

Engineering note: Noise values are only comparable when the voltage, operating load, mounting method, test distance and background sound level are recorded.
OEM Mini Pump Configuration
A standard product should be evaluated first. Configuration changes are reviewed when the existing model cannot match the mechanical, electrical or assembly requirements of the equipment.
Mechanical Configuration
Depending on the selected platform, available options may include:
● Inlet and outlet direction
● Tube connector size
● Pump-head orientation
● Mounting bracket
● Damping components
● Pump and valve assembly
Electrical Connection
Project-specific requirements may include:
● Wire length
● Terminal type
● Connector
● Polarity marking
● Rated-voltage option
● Customer part number
Product Identification
For eligible orders, product identification and supply requirements may include:
● Product labels
● Batch codes
● Customer model numbers
● Inner packaging
● Carton markings
Availability depends on the selected model, configuration and order quantity.
Approval and Production Control
Production starts after the pump has passed the agreed test in the customer’s equipment.
Sample Approval
Specification Freeze
After approval, the final drawing, wiring, connector, port direction, inspection standard and packaging requirements are confirmed for production.
Repeat-Order Control
Test Records
Performance and life-test reports should identify the model, voltage, load, duty cycle, ambient condition, test duration and acceptance criteria. Test hours without these conditions are not directly comparable.

Q: Can the inlet and outlet ports be reversed?
A: Normally no. Internal one-way valves determine the flow direction. Reversing motor polarity does not usually exchange the inlet and outlet.
Q: Can one diaphragm pump handle both air and liquid?
A: Not normally. Pneumatic and liquid versions may use different pump heads, valves and wetted materials. Select a model designed for the intended medium.
Q: Are miniature diaphragm pumps oil-free?
A: Most models operate without lubricating oil in the air or liquid path. Cleanliness and material requirements should still be confirmed for sensitive equipment.
Q: Does altitude affect pump performance?
A: Yes. Lower atmospheric pressure can change airflow, pressure and vacuum performance. Equipment used at high altitude should be evaluated under the expected operating conditions.
Q: Does the pump require regular internal maintenance?
A: Most compact pump heads are not designed for routine disassembly. External filters, tubes and fluid-path components should be inspected according to the equipment maintenance plan.
Q: Can an existing pump from another supplier be replaced?
A: Provide the current model, dimensions, voltage, port direction, connector and measured operating result. The replacement should be confirmed through installation testing rather than selected only by appearance or maximum specifications.
