Built for the Brewing Water Circuit
A typical coffee machine water path is:
Water Tank → Pump → Heater → Brewing Unit
The pump supplies water toward the heater and brewing section, where the downstream components create resistance to flow.
For this type of circuit, pump selection should not be based only on the free-flow value. As circuit resistance increases, the available flow changes.
The pump should therefore be evaluated at the actual pressure required by the machine.

Suitable Coffee Machine Applications

Compact Espresso Machines
Suitable for espresso machines where the brewing circuit requires higher pressure within a relatively short water path.
The pump is used to supply water toward the heater and brewing section rather than for high-volume tank transfer.

Capsule Coffee Machines
Capsule systems normally use a limited amount of water during each brewing cycle.
This pump can be used where the downstream circuit creates resistance and the machine requires controlled water delivery under pressure.

Portable Espresso Equipment
The DC motor options allow the pump to be integrated into portable espresso equipment with limited internal space.
For battery-powered machines, the selected voltage and operating current should be checked with the control system during prototype development.
Working Flow Under Pressure
The free-flow value shows pump output without downstream pressure. It does not represent the water delivery available during brewing.
Inside a coffee machine, the heater, valves, tubing and brewing components add resistance to the water path. As this resistance increases, pump flow decreases.
For pump confirmation, provide the required working pressure and the flow needed at that pressure.
The maximum pump pressure should not be treated as the coffee extraction pressure. Actual brewing pressure is determined by the complete hydraulic circuit and machine control.
Brewing-Side Installation Conditions
The pump should be checked according to its position in the brewing water path.
If the pump feeds the heater or another restricted section, the expected operating pressure and run time should be provided during sample selection.
If heated water can reach the pump inlet, the actual inlet temperature should also be confirmed before approval. Wetted materials can then be reviewed according to the temperature and project material requirements.
The expected pump running time during one brewing cycle should also be provided, especially when the machine uses repeated short operating cycles.
Brew-Circuit Validation
The pump should be tested in the actual brewing circuit before production approval.
| Test Item | What to Check |
|---|---|
| Flow Under Load | Water delivery at the required working pressure |
| Pressure Response | Pump behavior as circuit resistance changes |
| Brew Volume | Water delivered during one brewing cycle |
| Current Under Load | Electrical load during pressurized operation |
| Start-Stop Cycle | Match with the machine brewing sequence |
The test should use the actual heater, valves, tubing and brewing components where possible. This gives a more useful result than testing the pump only under free-flow conditions.
FAQ
Q: Does 220–290 PSI mean the coffee machine will brew at this pressure?
A: No. This is the pump's maximum pressure specification. Actual brewing pressure depends on the complete water circuit, including valves, restrictions and the brewing unit.
Q: How should the working flow be checked?
A: Use the required flow at the machine's actual working pressure. The free-flow value alone is not enough for brewing-circuit selection.
Q: Can the pump be installed before or after the heater?
A: Both arrangements may require different checks. If heated water reaches the pump inlet, provide the actual inlet temperature before sample approval.
Q: What operating information should be provided?
A: Provide the required working pressure, flow, voltage and approximate pump run time during one brewing cycle.
Q: Can the wire and connector be changed?
A: Wire length and connector options can be reviewed according to the assembly requirement of the coffee machine.
